Hufft built this conference table in 24 hours after they sold their old one and needed a new one the next day. Instead of being something to use once and throw away, the table has proved very sturdy and long lasting.
The glass wall between the designing and fabricating areas promots collaboration and discussion between designers and fabricators.
An in-house painting booth allows Hufft to finish their products without expensive outsourcing.
The table seen at the top which was designed and built in 24 hrs is actually sold by Hufft now because it became so popular. While collaboration between the designers and fabricators is important Hufft has found that its more efficient to "let professionals be professionals". In other words the architects design and the fabricators fabricate. They found the company is more efficient and the projects get done at a higher standard by sticking to that principle.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting how their diversity of professions internally allows the company as a whole to be an expert at everything. Keeping such a range of skill sets under one roof makes it kind of a one stop design shop for individuals looking to build.
